Laura Johnson, 19, a maths student from Cumbria, has come for a weekend of shopping in Camden. So far she has snapped up a selection of rings from the market, which she is wearing with a black dress from Miss Selfridge, a sleeveless denim shirt from River Island, some 'sensible' brown boots from Clarks and a bag from Dorothy Perkins. She describes her style as "quite boho" and says she is also a fan of vintage buys from charity shops.

Musician Robert Maisie, 24, from Archway, is sporting plenty of band merchandise including a hand-painted leather jacket and a 'ripped-to-pieces' Black Moth T-shirt – a Leeds Rock and Roll band who he is going to see play at KOKO later, who he says he has known 'basically since they were born.' The musician, who plays in alternative rock band Terminal Gods and works in The Blues Studios in Dalston, revealed that his jeans were “£8 from the ladies section of Primarni… all punk-rock boys in London wear exactly the same pair of jeans – and it's the only boys, they fit so badly on girls.”

Elena Rensen, 28, a classy biologist from Germany, currently living in Paris, is dressed up for a night at Desertfest. She wears a black beret from a flea market in Germany, lace-up shoes from Paris and a long black coat with a little amber brooch that her boyfriend bought her from Avignon as a Christmas present.

Brazilian actress Sephora Venites, 30, is currently in Camden presenting a program about the London music scene. She wears colourful leggings from a street market in Brazil, a blue jumper from H&M, a vintage jacket and boots from Aldo, topped off with a designer hat – Ms Venites says she likes to mix it up with lots of different items.

Roberta Barrui, 24, from Sardinia, is exploring Camden on holiday. Ms Barrui, who is currently studying aesthetics in Italy, is wearing a shiny black jacket, along with black jeans and Converse-style trainers, teamed with a bag and studded belt that she picked up from shops in Camden Town. Her all-black outfit is brightened up by her punky peroxide blonde hairdo.

Carla Rogers’ quirky outfit stands out most for its accessories – little dolls hang from her necklace and are attached to the tops of her shoes, as she explains “They’re pretty creepy and I burn them…I just like them”. The 18-year old painter from Bracknell is wearing customised shoes from Camden, black jeans and a wolf T-shirt that she "stole with permission" from a friend’s house, a yellow checked jacket from a shop in Camden and her nan’s bag.
